Our company name comes from the river Krka that flows past the site where the company was founded. The town of Novo Mesto in southern Slovenia is still the home of Krka HQ today.
1954
Krka founds its first human pharma production lab in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
1970
Krka launches first Animal Health product.
2004
Krka starts supplying UK NHS with human pharmaceuticals.
2010
New Krka spot-on solutions production unit opens.
2015
Launch of Animal Health portfolio in UK.
Krka invests €250M in next generation production plants for human medicines.
2018
New state of the art production line for veterinary tablets.
2022
Milprazon Chewable worming range for dogs and cats range launched, with EMA guideline proven palatability for dogs.

Sustainability is a key pillar of our long-term growth.
For several decades now our business model has been based on key areas; product quality, innovation, talent retention, highest standards of corporate governance and responsible management of environmental resources.
Our most recent achievements and goals include:
- 2016-2021: Krka invested over €30 million in environmental protection.
- 2022: We collared all our Environmental, Social and Governence activity into a formal ESG policy made public last November.
- 2023: Krka will obtain an externally benchmarked ESG rating. This helps customers and investors understand our priorities and management of ESG factors in the future.
- 2025-2050: Krka has laid out its roadmap for carbon footprint reduction (scope 1 & 2) with key targets for 2025, 2030 and 2050.

Our European manufacturing system is a complete end to end process from the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) to final product.
Designed to drive supply stability and quality control it also brings the benefit of lowering product miles for over 70% of Krka’s product range.
