The district veterinary nurse role was under the microscope at a BVNA regional event that saw more than 100 delegates attend.
Carla Finzel, founder of The District Veterinary Nursing Development Group, took to the stage at the Kent region CPD event at Hadlow College to tell colleagues about the role she pioneered and her vision for the future.
Animal welfare
Ms Finzel told delegates she hoped the role would become an established part of the profession to enhance animal welfare and strengthen practice-client bonds.
Other lectures were delivered by RVNs Matthew Rendle, Debbie Gray and vet Belinda Johnston, and an exhibition was also held.
Strive forward
The event was organised by RVN Donna Lewis, BVNA council member and Kent regional representative, who said: “Hopefully the event enlightened more nurses about the District Nursing Development Group and how far they’ve come. May they continue to strive forward quickly for the sake of pets that will benefit from having a DVN.”
Fund-raiser
She added: “I cannot thank everyone enough who came along on the event, which took place on the hottest day of the year and made it all worthwhile.
“We raised £580 for the New Hope Animal Rescue via a raffle and tombola, with prizes kindly donated by friends, family, colleagues and exhibitors.”
