Figure 7. Humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF; arrows) in a five-year-old springer spaniel. The dog had presented with contralateral lateral condylar fracture and this HIF lesion was discovered as an incidental finding. HIF can cause pain and lameness in its own right, and is a risk factor for complete condylar fractures. HIF is often not apparent on plain radiographs and CT is the preferred diagnostic.
